Friday Night Clay: Ceramic Haunted Houses

Kick off the cozy autumn season with a hands-on evening in the pottery studio sculpting a classic ceramic haunted house inspired by collectible village displays. Bring the family and build out a halloween village or create a standalone spooky architectural accent.

This workshop guides you step-by-step through designing a miniature building complete with intricate trim, crooked roofs, shuttered windows, and character-filled details.No prior pottery experience is needed as you learn foundational slab construction and handbuilding techniques to build your house from the ground up. You will learn how to join clay walls, score and slip architectural features, and carve fine details like brickwork, shingles, or tiny overgrown vines before finishing your piece with our vibrant underglazes.

All clay, sculpting tools, glazes, and double-firing services are provided. Please wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a bit of clay on. After class, our studio team will handle the drying, glazing, and kiln firing.                                           

 

Friday Night Clay: Halloween Votives

Gather in the studio for a festive autumn evening at the pottery wheel throwing a set of 4 ceramic Halloween votive holders. Whether you choose to carve grinning jack-o'-lantern faces into the soft clay, pierce subtle crescent moons and stars, or trim spooky silhouettes like bats and bare trees, this workshop gives you complete creative freedom to transform wheel-thrown cylinders into a matching set or four entirely unique candle holders.

No prior wheel experience is necessary as you learn the basics of centering, opening, and pulling up the walls of small vessels. Once your vessels are off the wheel, you will learn how to pierce, cut, and alter the damp clay so the warm glow of a tea light or votive candle casts eerie, flickering shadows across the room. After shaping and detailing, you will finish your collection by selecting your glazes from our custom studio palette.

All clay, wheel setup, trimming tools, glazes, and double-firing services are included. Make sure to come in comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little muddy. Following the session, our studio team will handle the drying, glazing, and firing process, leaving your complete 4-piece set fully fired just in time for your spooky season decorating.

Inspired by the gentle tumble of seasonal foliage, this workshop guides you through cutting, texturing, and shaping individual clay leaf charms along with a central hanging top piece to create a soothing, rustic piece of outdoor art for your porch or garden.

No prior pottery experience is needed as you explore simple slab-building, cutting, and carving techniques to bring your leaves to life. You will learn how to carve or stamp intricate vein details, shape organic contours, and pierce secure hanging holes into every piece before selecting vibrant autumn glazes from our studio palette to make your leaves pop.

All clay, tools, glazes, stringing materials, and double-firing services are included. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little clay on. Following the session, our studio team will handle the drying, glazing, firing and assembly.

You will learn how to carve or stamp intricate vein details onto the clay, cut out delicate autumn contours, and curve the edges to cradle your favorite cooking utensils. Once your spoon rest is sculpted, you will select your choice of vibrant glazes from our studio palette to highlight the carved textures.
